With over 30 years of first-hand experience, Shulaika has worked within and alongside the Dutch legal system, grounded in statutes, regulations, civil and criminal codes, tax laws, and international treaties.
Born on the land known as Curaçao, Shulaika earned her master’s degree in law, with a specialization in Taxation, from the University of Groningen (Netherlands) in 1994.
Her legal career began that same year as a Tax Inspector for the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration in Groningen. She later served as a Policy Officer at the Directorate of International Tax Affairs of the Ministry of Finance in The Hague, and at the Directorate of Taxes of the Netherlands Antilles in Curaçao.
In 1998, Shulaika transitioned into the private sector, first with Citco Group Ltd in Curaçao as a Tax Lawyer, then as Senior Tax Manager at Deloitte, where she gained extensive expertise in:
In 2001, she established her own law firm in Curaçao, which she has been building full-time since 2006.
Driven by curiosity and a passion for justice, Shulaika dedicates much of her time to research, reading, fact-checking, and engaging in dialogue with others to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world and to stay ahead of conventional legal models.
